Yeshua 05:18
I woke up. The sun was bright and I walked down to the beach. I found my home in the clouds. They roam the earth in search of worth and showcase grace, the grace of God. I stood up. My prayers were short and I confessed to the Lord my deepest regrets and more. I fell down on my knees and begged, Lord please! God: "You are free in my Son. Human beings, I plead and plead for you to see the good in me. No matter what you've done, with works or with tongue... Yeshua."
2.
Your Love 02:56
Praise your name, O Sovereign Lord. May you grant me the sharpest sword. May you cut off all my pride, I'll shake it off from side to side and wonder why I never knew a God as merciful as you. Moshiach found me in a desert, dry, no love for one another. Try to do more things for others, disregard all lusty lovers. Remember the good times you had with your caring, loving mother. Turns out she's in heaven waiting, watching God do his creating. Such a shame that we messed up in the Garden of Eden. Sinners wait for what we're needing... Let's just praise the Lamb for bleeding! You share your blood of salvation with so many of the nations. Bless your heart! God is good! Let us be all that we should. Forgiveness and Love shall reign! Not murder, slander or pain. I don't know if I can go on without You. You're the light to my growing heart and I thank You. Your patience brings the seas to shore and I long for more of Your Love.

Baby Blue 04:49
I went down, down to the ocean and found a piece of my mind I had left on the rocks. I recognized all of the boats on the docks. Beneath waves I frolicked and scraped away my toe polish. I wished you were there at the top of the stairs, holding your hat in the wind. Baby Blue. Everything under the sun looks like a whole lot of fun. Follow that sound of the waves crashing down. The branches hang low to the ground, I have found. The gopher lies patient, under his mound. Beneath clouds, I vanished and felt like I had been banished but with you, I will always feel true. Nothing else matters to me and you. Blue. Now when I think of you and everything that you can do... I wished you were there with the wind in your hair, the sunlight behind you, making me stare. You're here today, I am very aware. There's so many moments I know we will share. Blue.

Another one is calling, calling out to you in words of deception. The influence.

June Gloom 03:52
The heat was still at one point on the hill. We wallowed in the dark and wished upon the stars. The demon drove me down from this old miners town to a coastline in my mind with old faiths left behind. So we can start again. It knows it did not win. When I looked in it's eyes, I realized... So now my only hope is that I'll be left alone. There's new meaning in my words and I still sing to birds... So we can start again. It knows it did not win. When I looked in it's eyes, I realized it never dies.

The Coast 04:20
Now, where I stand, I can see the place where I was born by coastal trees and brush. Now, as I glance, there is no breeze and I romance to please, it brings me ease. So I go wandering around and I hope I will be found. No one can track my ground, so I sing and thus resound. Now, where I sit, I can sing this song about the coast. "Do you feel the breeze?" you say, "we must be close..." and the fog rose in the air, it slipped through your hair and we froze down to our toes. So I go wandering around and I hope I will be found. No one can track my ground, so I sing and thus resound.

Red Tide 03:10
I'm falling asleep in the long grey days. I long to be in the song of waves. I belong to Thee, but my heart it screams... "There's nothing like an ocean breeze or the sunshine on your knees!" Red tide, come, light the night. Let me sleep by your side. Lull me to sleep, dear. The Spirit on the face of the deep. The birds, fish and the things that creep. Mankind, God's biggest feat. I'm falling down the well and drinking at Bethel. I long to be like the Song of Songs. I belong to Thee but my heart it swells... Lull me to sleep, dear. The Spirit on the face of the deep. The cross was there... I knew it was Good News.
9.
A campfire song. Where do I belong??? A salty wind blows, to where no-one knows. The waves lull us to sleep, sand beneath our feet. As long as I'm with you, there's nothing I won't do. We pull right up to the beach, the waves just out of reach and we'll follow that sound like there's no one else around. You're my Baby Blue, and I know you love me too. I felt strong in your arms. On the beach we lit a fire. It lasted all night. In the dark, we drank wine until morning time.
10.
Warm Waters 04:28
In my home state of California, there's no worries on sand or sea. Out on the lake, there was an earthquake. Watching the sun go down, driving the boat around. And later that night, we ate at In-N-Out because that's what a hamburger is all about. And the Warmth of the Sun lasts well into the night. Roasting marshmallows down at the camp site. So hear the waves roll, oh how it soothes the soul. Ain't nothin' better in this world, or so I'm told. In my hometown, Carlsbad, California, Warm Waters, Yeah, P.C.H.

about

This album is dedicated to Tanner S. Turner in celebration of his 30th Birthday.

"June Gloom" is the 8th full length album by David Evans under the name of the Water. This is the Water's most Hi-Fi record to-date and is meant to juxtapose 2012's "Morning Grass", having similar song-writing strategies and themes but a completely opposite approach in recording ("Morning Grass" had single live takes on a portable tape recorder vs. "June Gloom" having an actual home studio, recorded at a slower pace).

"June Gloom" is kind of a concept album.
As a body of work, it tells the story of someone who finds that the idea of "home" is not a real place that actually exists. Upon the realization of this and coming to faith in the Messiah Jesus Christ, through the Spirit (Ruach or breath) of God, He speaks back to the main character who then is able to re-iterate the things spoken to him by God for the world to hear.
"You are free in my Son. Human beings, I plead and plead for you to see the good in me. No matter what you've done, with works or with tongue... Yeshua." -Track 1, "Yeshua"
This character is then fully willing to worship the living God with their mind, heart and spirit until they get side-tracked by a love of romanticism and the ocean. A demonic spirit is then able to creep in and "Influence" him ("Another one is calling out to you in words of deception..."). This evil spirit draws him further away from God to "a coastline in my mind, with old faiths left behind" and even draws him away from "Baby Blue". Back in his earthly "home", thinking he will be now satisfied, he begins to re-discover and worship the sea until confessing aloud "I belong to Thee, but my heart it screams...", illuminating the fact that he does, in fact, belong to God but he desires more from the earth and isn't ready to fully give his life to him. He then writes a campfire song of longing for the sea, for "Follow(ing) That Sound" and for "Baby Blue", nostalgia fully sets in from his youth. The story is then left a little open-ended and light-hearted as he ponders more on his earthly hometown and upbringing.

This is a story about how easy it is to fall away from following Jesus and a reminder that we must focus on Him daily and to avoid the pursuit of the things that won't matter in the end.
